WAY OF THE CROSS
Crit ( Cross, Kreuz) is one of The Saxon Villages of Transylvania founded in the XIIth century. The „Lost Villages“ had a special status among nations in the province and their civilisation managed to survive and thrive, forming a very strong community of farmers, artisans and merchants gathered around fortified churches under the constant threat of the Ottoman and Tatar invasions. Nowadays relatively few people remain, as conservative witnesses of long gone past preserving traditions that have already disappeared in most regions of Eastern Europe. You can still see horse chartstravelling on main roads, listen to violin music and savour delicious taste of honey, potato bread and Pálinka from small farmers, but they are quickly trickling away due to the new specification imposed by EEC rules.
